Geoffroy Pithon
BIOGRAPHY :
Geoffroy Pithon (b. 1988) is a French multidisciplinary artist based in Nantes, France. He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris (ENSAD Paris) in 2012.
His practice centers on his Cabines, large-scale paper installations that immerse viewers in vibrant environments inspired by vegetal, animal, jungle and underwater worlds.
Working with an intuitive and spontaneous process, Pithon does not rely on predefined subjects. He cuts, rearranges and recomposes fragments of his own paintings to create new visual structures. His works retain the immediacy of each gesture, resulting in compositions that are raw, energetic and fluid.
For the artist, paper is a living and responsive material that captures movement and emotion. His abstract forms and flowing lines engage the senses directly, while small figurative elements occasionally appear as windows that reconnect the viewer to reality. His work oscillates between pure abstraction and the human inclination to recognize shapes and meaning.
